Sports We Offer

Special Olympics Alaska offers 14 Olympics-style sports in four sports seasons. Each season includes opportunities for competition at the local and state level. Athletes have the opportunity to qualify and advance to USA Games (every 4 years) and World Games (every 2 years, alternating between Winter and Summer Games).

Winter Sports Season

December through March 

  • Alpine Skiing (Unified & Traditional) 
  • Cross-Country Skiing 
  • Figure Skating 
  • Snowboarding (Unified & Traditional) 
  • Snowshoeing 
  • Unified Floor Hockey 

 

Summer Sports Season

March through June

  • Athletics (Track & Field) 
  • Swimming
  • Basketball (Individual Skills, Unified & Traditional) 
  • Powerlifting 
  • Gymnastics-Artistic 

Fall Sports Season

June through September

  • Unified Bocce 
  • Unified Golf 

Bowling Season

August through November  

  • Bowling (Unified & Traditional)
