Our athletes are children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities from across the Alaska. As part of our community they find success, joy and friendship. As athletes they realize abilities, not disabilities, becoming confident and empowered by their accomplishments.
We offer 14 Olympic-style sports in four Special Olympic Sport Seasons:
December through March
March through June
June through September
August through November
The athlete must:
The athlete, or the athlete's guardian, needs to contact their local Special Olympics Alaska progrom.
A meeting will be scheduled to program, eligibility requirements and the athlete's sport interests.
Once the registration forms are submitted to the local program, the athlete will be connected with a coach and training can begin.

We're looking for people of all types who would like to help us through their personal interest or professional experience.
Special Olympics Alaska hosts sports competitions throughout the year on a local and state level. Volunteers with and without sport specific knowledge are needed to ensure these events are safe and to provide the best athlete experience possible.
In addition to sporting events, we could also use help with fundraising and other events that support our the program, including family forums, victory celebrations, registration and outreach events and more.
