Fundraising Events Manager

General Information: Special Olympics Alaska provides year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people with intellectual disabilities by giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes, and the community.

Job Responsibilities:  Manage the planning, budgeting and day-to-day activities of Special Olympics Alaska’s fundraising events including Annual Gala, Wine Auction, Law Enforcement Torch Run, BOMA Golf Tournament, Breakfast with Champions, Alaska Distance Classic, Raffles, and Polar Plunge. 
Key skills include excellent written and oral communication, ability to organize and prioritize tasks, ability to plan and budget, interaction with vendors, ability to utilize technology to market and host events. 
  
This role reports directly to Vice President (VP) of Development & Communications.  Other duties shall include working with the President/CEO and the Fund Development Committee of the Board to assist with special projects as needed.

Qualifications:  College degree preferred with no less than three-years experience in related position with excellent leadership and management skills.  An understanding of the athletes and movement of Special Olympics along with a proven track record of managing large events.  Must have exceptional written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal and leadership skills and willing to work evenings and weekends when required.

Supervisor and Evaluation:  Supervised by the VP of Development & Communications and evaluated annually by the VP of Development & Communications and President/CEO.

Responsibilities include:
qEnsure compliance to the general rules, policies and standards of Special Olympics Alaska.
qManage Fundraising Events to include: Annual Gala, Wine Auction, Law Enforcement Torch Run, BOMA Golf Tournament, Breakfast with Champions, Raffles and Polar Plunge.
qAssist in creation of budgets for each event.  Ensure adherence to budgets and budget revisions as needed. 
qManage responsibilities related to each event including; identifying best vendor, negotiating with vendor, managing vendors and volunteers and coordinating with VP of Development & Communications.  Event marketing and communications skills a must.
qManage various software programs used to drive events.
qAlong with VP of Development & Communications, manage the Special Olympics Alaska Development Events to include growth in participation, growth in net revenue earned, data collection, and the needs of our event sponsors.
qManage the Special Olympics Alaska marketing and communications as it pertains to fundraising events.
qOther development tasks including; updating donor tracking software, outreach to local businesses, developing new corporate sponsors with VP of Development & Communications, other Special Olympics Alaska projects and events as needed.
qOther duties as assigned by the VP of Development & Communications and President/CEO.
